Is there anything more important to a mountain biker than the trail? I don’t think so. No trail means no mountain biking. The bike does not matter. Junker or new-fangled thang, riding it on pavement or a forest road is not the same as riding it on a trail.
The trail matters.
All Hail, the Trail.
Pedal. Breathe. Pedal. Breathe.
How often to we actually give thanks to the trail itself? Give thanks? To a non-live being?
Not alive?
Those ribbons, those lines, those paths bring us joy and pain and all things in between and then … so much more.
Not to forget, there are the trail builders. Trails to ride bikes on do not exist without human hands making them.
East. West. North. South.
Dirt. Rock. Sand. Mud.
Dry. Tacky. Wet. Snow. Ice.
Flow. Tech. Climb. Descend. Rolling.
It’s all out there. The trail offers us everything we need/want when we set out to ride.
All Hail, the Trail.
Indeed.
