I spent a couple of years working with organic coffee producers in Turrialba, Costa Rica. While there, I would borrow a friend/colleague’s beat up mountain bike to get some exercise at the end of the day, when we were done facilitating workshops on small-business planning/capacity building with the small holder farmers. One of the Saturday mornings, I set off to climb 7000+ elevation feet from town to where you can’t climb any higher, up at the cone zone of Turrialba Volcano, where La Ruta de los Conquistadores races pass through.
What is below at the link is a coming together of mountain biking up the volcano and learning about Don Jorge’s philosophy of farming, of what he believes is the only way to produce the best coffee in the world.
