Burning Beard Brewing Company in east county (El Cajon) San Diego celebrates the many creative bends of the human species. Art. Music. Dance. Poetry and prose. And then there is beer, too, with a bit of a punk rock flair to it, if it’s going to be Burning Beard’s craft beer.
We are creative bipeds and when you consider the notion of pedaling a bike in the mountains, woodlands, deserts and prairies, on ribbons of trails and connectors of dirt/gravel roads, it easily fits into the ethos of Burning Beard.
Mike sent back a handful of responses for this round of Q&A, sharing with us his love for getting outside and connecting with nature while adventuring:
1. How do you/BBBC connect with the outdoors?
I'm definitely an outdoors kinda guy. Surfing, hiking, and mountain biking are consistent favorites, along with seasonal backpacking and snowboarding in the local mountains and the Sierras.
2. Any favorite local adventures that you recommend?
Snorkeling or stand-up paddle boarding at La Jolla during leopard shark season (June - October) is always a good time. Tide pooling in Point Loma or the La Jolla reefs never disappoints. Big Laguna and Noble Canyon are obvious mountain biking favorites. Anywhere in Borrego is good fun, but if you're up for a challenge, hike your way to Villager Peak and then on to Rabbit Peak. Finally, if you're looking for something a little more urban, a visit to Burning Beard in El Cajon is an adventure unto itself.
3. BBBC recommendations for a post-ride beer?
Beard Blue Ribbon (BBR), our American Light Lager. Crisp, light, and refreshing, and available in 16oz 4-packs! The quintessential post- or mid-ride beer!
4. Anything else to add ... say what you want!
Life's an adventure, so go out there and get it! Preferably with a beer in hand (or in your pack). Cheers!
