Megadeth’s “Peace Sells … But Who’s Buying” is a masterpiece of thrash metal. Put this on and then go thrash/not shred your next session. If you’re thinking of riding your e-bike because the climbs are too hard for you, leave it at home and get out your mountain bike. Riding a bike on trails in the mountains is hard. Duh. Maybe Megadeth will give you the energy you need to actually be a mountain biker (again!).
Plus, you need the right attitude. Ha!
Now with your attitude adjusted, you’re ready for a little more thrashing.
Enter Anthrax.
NYC.
Hold on a minute … let’s relate this to mountain biking …
I wrote Mountain Biking is a Political Act about five years ago and posted it here on this Substack. It then went “viral” in the mountain biking corner of the interwebs. It’s how I ended up talking with Dave Wiens and learned he was/is an Iron Maiden fan.
You can read the piece here:
It’s 2025 and there still are mountain bikers who don’t agree. Here’s what I think of that:
You are either truly ignorant or just plain dumb.
Maybe you’re someone who says, I don’t want to think about that while riding. Okay, fine. But you do have a responsibility to support people and organizations that work tirelessly so you have trails to ride on.
Still disagree?
Here’s “Antisocial” for you:
We are a community. Success comes when we support fellow mountain bikers who do the hard work: advocacy and trail maintenance and planning events, etc. It doesn’t get done by robots/AI.
It’s us, human beings/social creatures.
Even if you’re a solo rider and don’t like people all that much, misanthrope that you might be, I’m going to say you have an obligation to put some cash into the pot, at the very least. In a day and age when clearly money isn’t being appropriated for appropriate land management, the risk of losing “rideable” trails is more real than it was yesterday. We can’t be “anti-social” and then complain about there not being “enough” trails to ride.

The "big 4".
There are so many good songs from all the bands.
Anthrax was the first I was exposed to... An older cousin had a great collection of tapes and CDs.
I said, what is this?
Anthrax. Persistence of time.
I don't know if you're Mom wants you to listen to this.....
It's ok.... Make me a tape.
The quality of the songs, and the lyrics, yep politics, religion, racism, over the years they tackle it all.
Most underrated of the bunch I think
Listen to all da megadeath you want bro You still can’t keep up with me Jajajaja ✌🏽❤️🤟🏽
