Notes and a Heart(y) Thought

While in graduate school in Philadelphia, Wissahickon was my getaway to unwind the mind. The trails in there seemed to wind on and on and getting “lost” for a couple of hours was somewhat of a weekly thing to do. Freehub profiles the Wiss, as well as Belmont, which I rode a few times, in this article free to access:

This is crazy and badass: Mountain bikers. Mountain Lion. An attack. They fought back for 45 minutes. Click to see the photo of the cougar pinned down beneath the bike. What?!

Yes, please.
A thought: I recently put down $175 for a coronary calcium CT scan. Yes, I’m fortunate to have that kind of random cash. You might, too? My thinking was, one less weekend getaway this spring. Stay home/pay for heart scan. Why do it? Doctor said we can start a baseline. Results: no chance of a heart attack anytime soon, like probably 10+ years, is what the data/words say. Okay, so keep riding bike and swimming. Cool. What about potato chips? Can I eat more of those since my number is so low? Yes, keep riding bike and sure, eat chips. Ride bike more, though. Aging. Slowing metabolism. Etc. (Etc?)
Okay, so maybe riding bikes really is like a health care plan of sort, e.g. preventive medicine?

Love to see the story about Philly and Belmont Plateau and the Wiss! Weekly races were always humbling and I love the ride from town approach that kept me in shape. Remember that time we left the front wheels in west Philly, made it to Wiss, turned around, and they were still on the sidewalk! Good karma
Hey James, there’s an area at Daley Ranch that when I ride through I think “ if I were a cougar/mountain lion, this is where I’d be”. And I’m alone. Sounds like I need some lady friends to ride with me
