Post Ride Beer Stream of Consciousness
PRBSoC #16: Seek Beer Co./Fort George Brewery/ROM Beer Co.
Pilsners with a little hop flare. West Coast, they’re calling it. I’m liking it. A nice light pilsner as spring blends into summer, making for less of a kick in the head as my brain ages.
They’ve been around for a while, but maybe now have a new name. Reinvent by calling it something different and adding in something not done before.
Sound familiar bike industry?
That newer descent from the water tower is a newer favorite trail. Love that the builders added in some tech/rock sections. All rollable and the line feels natural as you come into it. Hanging a left at the T and adding in that piece rides much “better” than if coming from the other way.
But I missed the T this time because I am so damn fast. NOT! Simply floated on by it and missed it and kept doing down down down. Down that steep, washed out, ditched out, sketched out sorta trail. Somehow I managed to not dab. I don’t like that drop at all.
Why do DH’ers enjoy the risk of broken bones?!
The oak grove this time of year always stops me in my tracks. There is no doubt that an energy flows into you when amidst it. Positive. Calming.
Breathe it in.
That NYTimes article about Bentonville biking scene and how great it is put a rancor me. The legacy money boys go to school in Colorado. They learn how to mountain bike. They go back home and build trails with family money. Wal Mart, destroyer of small downtowns.
$74 million dollars for trails and bike paths in one town. Tax breaks which means tax payer money. They built it with our money. And somehow this is celebrated? Okay fine, celebrate it, but tell the truth of how it happened.
Seventy four million dollars so the boys can play. Sure, tourists will come and ride. Spend money. Local economies. I get it. And yes, they support grants for other communities. Remember — it’s our money they’re giving out.
$74 million dollars.
Why does the MTB community not call this out? Have our punk rock roots completely died?
Counting to seventy-four. Two hands. Ten fingers. 7 times around and adding in four. Now … million dollars.
Time for another beer.
