For a little insight on what Rim Tour is about, with regard to their trips and Colorado offerings, here’s a little Q&A with Reid:
1. Tell us about Rim Tours -- why should mountain bikers ride with you?
Rim Tours is the original mountain bike tour company, founded in Moab in 1985. Over almost 40 years we have pioneered 4x4 supported backcountry tours, and perfected the logistical support needed for a great multi-day ride. We take pride in renting high quality all carbon Santa Cruz bikes to our guests only, which means your bike won't have been tossed off the Whole Enchilada when no own was looking. Our team of guides is passionate about riding, and many have worked for us for 10+ years.
2. Favorite Colorado trails -- why?
Generally speaking, I might say any of the Colorado Trail sections are highlights, from Searle and Monarch Passes on the eastern half, to guiding the final section from Silverton into Durango on our Colorado Trail Singletrack tour. The Colorado Trail is epitome of alpine singletrack and the days spent there are always memorable.
Realistically these days, I've loved the opportunity for legal ebiking, as Moab's mtb singletracks are not open to ebikes. My family is all in Denver, where the open-space is mostly county parks, with huge climbs and descents, and its been so fun to add that to my family visits. Also loving putting in massive back-to-back days on the ebike in Crested Butte on the well-established motorcycle trail networks, which we will be featuring in some trips this summer.
3. What's one thing riders should bring along on a trip but often forget?
All the warm clothes, no matter what time of year, but especially when coming to the desert. And a pillow.
4. Favorite indie CO breweries/beers?
When you live in Utah, just leaving the Zion Curtain is a wonderful experience. After our Durango Colorado Trail, I like stopping at Steamworks Brewing, as they can fit in a group no matter how busy, and the food goes well with beer.
5. Say anything ... what's the latest ... parting thoughts (!)
Happy winter, see you in Arizona for some early season riding!
Rim Tours is offering a discount to Paseando MTB subscribers. First, discounts are offered by the business owners and they make them available to paid subscribers. Why? Offering discounts to everyone who follows Paseando MTB might mean that for a small business, there’d be a lot of discounts/money that they are providing. It’s about margins, y’all. It’s also about not getting a free lunch, so to speak.
Want discounts? You need a paid subscription and the lowest price that you can get for a Substack/Paseando MTB subscription is $10.20/year. Use this link to get it:
