Thursday evening it was looking like there’d not be any precipitation on Friday during most of the day. Road conditions were a bag of mixed reports. With forecasted weather temps to be in the upper 30s/lower 40s in Descanso by later morning, I went to bed thinking I’ll do a quick check in the morning and then likely head out the road after the sun was up and had some time to warm the air and road surfaces.
I arrived to Cuyamaca Rancho State Park around 8:30, roads being a non-issue, meaning they were somewhat wet. The plan was simple: ride the fat bike for however long I wanted but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll rack the bike and go snowshoeing.
