For every mountain biker that becomes an e-biker, there is a sound that emanates across the land at the e-bike point of purchase. If you never were a mountain biker, a-hem … meaning you’ve only ever been an e-biker (!), then this may not make sense to you.
(If you’re rankled after watching, watch it again and let go.)
I present to you, MTBeer readers, The Sound of an E-Bike Purchase:
Fully Rigid is a monthly column by James Murren about Mountain Biking Issues within the Mountain Biking Community. It’s meant to be a cranky-attitude rant.
James, I’m reminded of a comment a fellow cyclist made when index shifting became popular. He likened it to automatic transmission (old school versus new). I have no plans to purchase an E-bike any time soon but can appreciate the appeal. The us versus them is a slippery slope I try my best to avoid. I’ve been mountain biking ever since I first saw the Stumpjumper and have never looked back. The day may come when I embrace the “E”, I don’t see it as the dark side. I just hope when that day comes, we can go for a ride
I always appreciate your view point James, and the humor was not lost on me
