I simply think that changes to land use policy should be done with data and follow the processes that we have. Additionally, if advocacy orgs aren't able to keep to their mission statements, they should dialogue with their members about the process of changing their mission statements, or dissolve as those organizations and then start new ones. Agreed, it seems that e-bike world, or whatever we call it, is driven by the industry, which is driven by maximizing profit, for the most part.
I stopped riding with a local club because their rides are led by guys on pedal assist e-bikes, on trails that specifically say "no pedal assist." I had to dodge 3 people riding motorized One Wheel scooters on these same trails built by mountain bikers for mountain bikes. They were polite, but "no motorized vehicles" means "no motorized vehicles."
Maybe report the club leaders to the land managers, assuming they're not all "friends." Seems completely irresponsible for club leaders to lead e-bikes onto trails where they are not permitted.
I’m curious on your thoughts about San Diego Mountain Bike Associations new love affair with e-bikes? One example is, recently they radically changed the Archipelago ride to include e-bikes. My other beef is that they sanitize trails, overbuild bridges, etc.
The "eye test" on this year's Arch being a new route and 100% "e-accessible" does seem to suggest a new way forward for the Arch. I'll be at the top of Lopez on the first shift and am curious to see what amount of e-bikers are passing by to the finish line.
Companies are going to follow the $$ so unfortunately that means e bikes are here to stay.
The majority of people want"easier, faster" these days. E bikes give that :(

I ❤️ arch ride conspiracy theories Jajajaja
Indeed! That's why I said "eye test." Cheers, Sean!
